Darby Montana Real Estate

Located on U.S. Highway 93 at the sound end of the Bitterroot Valley, is the town of Darby Montana... a community of about 750 people offering wonderful accommodations and prime access to the many recreational opportunities that abound in the Bitterroot National Forest.

Darby Montana is such a wonderful place to retire and enjoy all that nature has to offer. There are many properties available in Darby that is perfect for the person that wants to get away from it all. Call or email me for a list of those properties…

There is plenty to do in Darby from hunting and fishing to antiquing at the Old West Gallery in downtown Darby. Enjoy a milkshake at the Silver Spoon Café and visit the Forest Service for a list of great hiking trails in the Darby area. Hit the slopes in the winter with Lost Trail Ski Resort only minutes from Darby. Como Lake and Painted Rocks Lake are close to Darby and offer an amazing opportunity to enjoy water sports. The Bitterroot Mountains are closer together in the Darby area so the views seem to be even more amazing.

The Darby Montana Real Estate market is still thriving due to the demand of recreational and remote properties. Large ranches are still very affordable in the Darby area too. It is not uncommon to find a 20-40 acre piece with a nice home in the Darby area around $500-$800K. Waterfront Real Estate is more affordable in the Darby area as apposed to the Hamilton and Corvallis areas because there is not only the Bitterroot River but there is the West Fork of the Bitterroot River and the East Fork of the Bitterroot River. Basic supply and demand I guess…

Major industries in the Darby area used to consist of Logging, Truck Driving and Guiding (hunting trips…). Now the logging mills have closed their doors and the town is more dependant than ever on tourists. The U.S. Forest Service and the local diners, schools and Real Estate industry have the jobs that keeps Darby moving.

I grew up in the Darby area and I can tell you that as a child I could not have asked for a more relaxed place to live. It was not uncommon to ride bikes to the local swimming hole and play there all day with friends without a care in the world. My family and I used to take pack trips with our horses miles into the Selway Wilderness area and the Anaconda Pintlers. If you are looking for a lifestyle like the way things used to be Darby Montana just might be the place for you!
